Converting Capabilities

L-S Industries, Inc. (L-SI) provides reliable, custom conversion and fabrication of materials, primarily for industrial packaging.

We specialize in cutting, laminating, heat-sealing, and sonic-welding. We inventory a variety of materials to offer quick turnaround times in most cases.  We have converting experience with a variety of materials for several different industries and applications.  We can help you select the right material for the application you need. Corrugated plastic, corrugated paper, polyethylene foam, plastic film, shoddy, fiberboard, linerboard, and chipboard are some of the products we convert and fabricate in high volumes.

L-S Industries serves many industries including wire & cable, aluminum & steel, horticulture, document handling, warehousing, automotive, and material handling, to name a few.

Our Services

Cutting

Traditional shapes can be cut with a saw and custom shapes, or patterns, can be die-cut with precision. We also specialize in cutting rolled products to specified widths and lengths.

Laminating

Spray laminators allow us to combine multiple materials and create a custom product for you. We can do this in full sheet, custom shape, or rolled form. Lamination can be done on one or both sides of sheeted or rolled materials.

Sonic-welding

Sonic-welding is primarily used in the manufacturing of corrugated plastic totes, trays, bins, and boxes. This process uses ultra-sonic sound waves to adhere the corrugated plastic material together, giving it a strong bond.

Heat-sealing

Heat-sealing provides a strong bond between two materials, usually plastic, and can be used to assemble products, like RSC boxes or pallet sleeves.

Cutting

We have a variety of specialty saws to cut several basic shapes. We can also die-cut custom shapes or patterns to fit your specifications. We have the ability to cut both sheet and rolled materials. Here are some of the materials that we convert in heavy volumes:

  • Squares/Rectangles
These are simple cuts that can be made out of almost any material. These can be used in pallet packaging, dividers/partitions, and countless other applications.
  • Circles/Donuts
These are cut to your exact specifications. Circles are primarily used in coil packaging for flat rolled coils of aluminum or steel. Donuts are mainly used to protect expensive wire or cable from imperfections in wood or metal reel flanges.
  • Octagons/Hexagons
Sometimes there is a need for some overlap to protect the edges of your circular items, like flat rolled coil products. Octagons can be used as a protective divider when packaging round products like metal wheels/rims.
  • Custom Shapes
Custom shapes or patterns can be either hand cut or die-cut to form products like totes, boxes, bins, and other custom products.

Laminating

Lamination of spunbond, brushed nylon, and foam to corrugated plastic are some of our specialties. We use spray adhesive to laminate both rolled products and sheet products together. Combining multiple materials creates a unique product for your needs. Foam laminated to a corrugated plastic roll offers cushion up against your product as well as increased impact protection. Spunbond, Tyvek®, Evolon®, or Brushed Nylon laminated to corrugated plastic or CON-Pearl creates a surface that is both weather-resistant and non-abrasive (meets the class A automotive requirements).

In addition to basic lamination, we have the ability to laminate materials of different shapes together. For example, in coil covers for the metals industry, we laminate a rolled product to the edge of a circle, creating a package to completely protect the top of the metal coil from getting moisture inside.

We have the ability to laminate almost any product but here are some of our specialties:

  • Laminating foam to corrugated plastic rolls
  • Laminating printed film to corrugated plastic rolls
  • Laminating spunbond to corrugated plastic sheets
  • Laminating Tyvek® to corrugated plastic sheets
  • Laminating brushed nylon to corrugated plastic sheets
  • Laminating brushed nylon to CON-Pearl sheets
  • Laminating printed film and/or foam to fiberboard sheets
  • Laminating plastic film with VCI to shoddy pads
  • Laminating material to paper or plastic circles to form coil covers

Heat-sealing

Heat-sealing provides a strong bond between two materials, usually plastic, and can be used to assemble products, like RSC boxes or pallet sleeves.

PLASTIC MATERIALS

Corrugated Plastic
Profile Board (sheets)
Heat-scored (rolls)
Double-face (rolls and sheets)
Single-face (rolls and sheets)
Solid Plastic Sheeting (rolls and sheets)
Closed-cell Polyethylene Foam (rolls and sheets)
XF film and woven Scrim (rolls and sheets)

Sonic-welding

Sonic-welding uses sound waves to adhere materials together. This provides an ultra-strong bond when assembling corrugated plastic totes and corrugated plastic boxes and bins. A die-cut form is folded around a wire rim and sonic-welded in place. This creates a light-weight, yet durable product for handling documents, fruit or vegetable harvesting, and many other applications. These welds are very durable and help create reusable packaging products.
